Opened in 1930, the Regent Theatre has been cherished by generations. After extensive community consultation, the City Council decided to purchase the theatre saving, it from demolition.
A $13.13 million renovation programme was developed, which required $1.7 million to be raised through a major capital fundraising campaign. Compton was appointed to undertake the initial fundraising resources study and then provide the people and IT systems to manage the campaign. Working in partnership with community leaders, major corporate grants were secured and an extensive grass-roots fundraising campaign initiated.
With the $1.7 million target raised, the Regent Theatre stands today as a major asset for the people of Palmerston North, now and in the future. |
