Worcester Cathedral

Voices, Music, Lights!

Compton was first appointed in 1988 to manage the successful campaign to raise £4 million and save the Cathedral tower from demolition. A team of Compton consultants worked alongside many volunteers to not only ensure the Tower was saved, but also to fund the ongoing maintenance programme that continues today. With a 900+ year history, long term thinking is part of the way of life at Worcester.

When the new challenge was being considered to raise £5 million to fund the musical life of the cathedral, The Dean and Chapter appointed Compton to complete a resources study to determine how best to proceed with the campaign.

Worcester Cathedral choirs give great pleasure to thousands with their involvement in one of the world's oldest music events, the internationally famous annual 'Three Choirs Festival'.

Many also believe that at the heart of an English cathedral is the organ and organ music has been a feature of Worcester Cathedral for some four hundred years. The £5 million campaign not only will fund the Choirs but also provide for a new organ which will ensure that Worcester remains a world-renowned centre of musical excellence.
