Talent Foundry – developing work opportunities for disadvantaged young people

Talent Foundry (TF) is an educational charity (established in 2009 as the Transformation Trust) to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds discover what they are amazing at, develop valuable new employment skills and take that first step into the world of work.

Over the last 10 years TF has significantly grown its reach. At the outset, the charity worked with around 200 schools a year. Today, that figure exceeds 1,600.

The Resolution Foundation has projected that youth employment could rise by 640,000 in 2020, with school leavers worst hit and taking the total of unemployed 18 – 25-year-olds to one million. This reduction in educational, employment and training opportunity will hit the most disadvantaged young people the hardest.

As we all adjust to living and working with Covid-19, on the cusp of what looks like a serious recession, we are pleased to have been appointed to work with the Talent Foundry to help to shape and develop its response to the crisis and build a plan to further expand its work.
