Shakespeare's Globe: the international centre for Shakespeare in performance
We have had a longstanding working relationship with the Globe across different phases of fundraising.
In 2008 Compton advised the Globe’s Trustees to plan and manage a £20 million campaign to fund three new building projects and establish an endowment fund – including £8 million to develop an Education and Rehearsal Centre.
The team we helped to build at the Globe went on to raise a further £7.5 million for the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse – the atmospheric, candle-lit indoor Jacobean theatre that has become a major London attraction.
More recently Compton worked with the Globe’s Trustees, Development Team and fundraising networkers on a project to complete the world-class facilities on Bankside and confirm the Globe as the international centre for the study and understanding of Shakespeare in performance.
The Coleridge Trust - reclaiming Coleridge’s Crypt
We are pleased to be working in partnership with The Coleridge Trust at St Michael’s Church in Highgate on a project to celebrate the life and work of Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Coleridge (1772-1834) was a founder of the Romantic Movement and one of the greatest poets, philosophers, theologians and literary critics the UK has ever produced.
Coleridge (better known as STC) lived in Highgate in North London for the last 18 years of his extraordinary life and worshipped at St Michael’s. STC and some of his family members were re-interred in the crypt of the church in 1961. Sadly, due to a lack of funds, their remains were bricked up at the back of a 17th Century wine cellar. The coffins are just visible through air vents, covered in dust and surrounded by rubble.
The Coleridge Trust is planning to change that by reclaiming the crypt and establishing a Coleridge Visitors and Education Centre.
